About Us






The cooperative
    
The social co-operative association "LA MIMOSA" operates since 1986 in the field of the prevention and the acceptance of the minors to deviance risk: children and teen agers victims of familiar abuses.
They are kept off from their families, to give them the possibility to overcome the difficulties living in an atmosphere of serene cohabitation and protection, guaranteed from the experience and the elevated professionality and competence of the staff.
But when all the boys and girls who are guests of the Cooperative become adult, it’s not easy for them to find a job. That’s why the Cooperative has accepted a new challenge, the one of being able to give them a hand and help them to become an active part of the “world of job”. For this reason they started to think of the constitution of a Cooperative of B type.

The Aim

    

The aims of the Cooperative are:

  • to give value and importance to the human being;
  • acknowledgment through the job, the education, the participation to social life, of the elements which are the the rights of citizenship of the persons;
  • support to the promotion and the development of the local communities;
  • the promotion of partnership, of the network job, of cooperation, of internal participation ( between associates) and external participation.
     

The Association

    
The administrative head office of the Cooperative is located in Via Istria 80 in the suburbs of the town.
In the same building, which has been recently refurbished and divided into three independent flats situated on three different floors, there are the two Communities of familiar type and the diurnal center.
The flats have been furnished with care, in respect of the norms in force and have wide and comfortable rooms for all the needs of the Community’s guests.
The Integrated Center of Services for the protection of childhood and adolescence is one of the most important of the Region.
Since January 2006 the Cooperative has also a new house, surrounded by trees and green fields, with wide spaces, at only five minutes distance from the seaside, located in the area of Lizzano. The name of this place is "Belvedere" .
