The
handicraft laboratory was born in 1991 thanks to the will and skill
of one of the members of the Cooperative and also thanks to the finacial
support of the 216/91 Law. This finacial support helped us to equipe
the laboratory with useful tools for the creation of a place, where
we use the tecniques for the processing of wood, papers, cards, plaster
cast, painting on canvas or glass.
Up to now it has only been a way for the children to use and challenge
their own abilities and, through the realization of these objects,
a way to realize their growth together with an improvement of their
self esteem.
They use to call this laboratory “the club of Carpenter Friends”.
To give more importance to their work, we started to arrange sells
and charity bazaars and to take part in fairs and arts and crafts
exhibitions.
As the objects realized by the children seemed to be greatly appreciated
during these events, we decided to “free the laboratory”
from all the links of an activity made only inside the community to
make it a “real job” with the aim of creating a cooperative
of B kind, where our children are the only protagonists of their work.
The objects are all completely hand made. In the laboratory work constantly
4 children, each one of them according to his abilities. They are
always supported by adults.
